"as Goldsmith puts it, “the disparity between how happy you think you should be and how happy you actually were makes you sad.” Past research has borne this out: “In the psychology literature there is [plenty] of evidence suggesting that happiness monitoring actually has deleterious consequences for your happiness.”"

“I did, but you gave them a substandard education because they lived in an area with poor funding due to low property taxes. I did, but you let them die because they couldn’t afford healthcare. I did, but due to racism you stomped out their potential and didn’t give them the same opportunities. I did, but you make a college education too unaffordable while giving the big bankers passes. I did, but you saw a homeless youth before you saw a kid with potential. I did, but you kicked the downtrodden while they were already shoulder deep in sinking sand.”

I’m thankful that Mitt Romney won’t be president.
You know what I did today? I came home from my government consulting job on Wall Street, changed into my Provincetown sweatpants, bopped down to my polling place in the middle of Harlem, waited in line for an hour and a half as the elderly women around me sang Civil Rights songs and then I placed my vote for the candidate I feel best fits into this sentence, and best fits for America. And now I want McDonalds for dinner. Amerciaaaaa, you are beautiful.
